Tips for Calculating Mulch for Circular Areas

- The Radius of the circle is 1/2 the diameter, or the distance from the center of the circle to the outside edge.

- To calculate the mulch needed for a half circle, divide the answer by 2.

- To calculate the mulch needed for a quarter circle, divide the answer by 4.

Calculating Mulch Needed for Odd Shapes

1. Draw a diagram of the odd shape you plan to mulch.
2. Break the diagram down into its basic shapes (rectangles, triangles, circles).
3. Calculate the mulch needed for each shape in the diagram.
4. Add the sum of each shape to get the total amount of mulch needed.
